Ghanaian movie producer, Yvonne Nelson, has revealed in an interview that she turned down a marriage proposal because she wasn’t ready.
Yvonne was answering 30 questions in her interview with Okyeame Quophi on Angel FM where she had gone to promote her new movie, “The Men we love” which will premiere on Valentine’s Day at the Silverbird cinema.
According to Yvonne, someone she was dating at the time proposed to her on her 30th birthday but she turned it down and retuned the ring because she felt she was not ready and didn’t want to cheat on him.
The 36-year-old actress also revealed that she is not big on marriage, but rather believed in partnership.
“On my 30th birthday, I had a ring and I returned it. So, it is not a do or die … marriage is not something I want to go in and leave. Someone proposed to me, I was dating.
“Because I felt I wasn’t ready, yeah. I don’t want to cheat on anyone, I don’t want to lie to anyone. It’s a very sensitive thing. If someone wants to marry you and know the society… it should be someone you really want to share your life with forever. You know there is no turning back,” she said.
When asked what she looks out for in a man, Yvonne said because she didn’t have her father present in her life, she wants someone who would be present in his children’s lives.
